Formula
fuel (L) = distance ÷ efficiency; cost = fuel × price per litre
Divide trip distance by your vehicle's fuel efficiency (km per litre) to get litres consumed, then multiply by the pump price per litre.
Worked example
A 350 km drive in a car doing 15 km/L burns about 23.3 litres. At ₹105/L that's roughly ₹2,452 in fuel — a quick sanity check before a weekend highway run.
Where this can give the wrong answer
- City driving efficiency is lower than highway — use your real-world average, not the brochure figure.
- AC, hills, and load all reduce km/L; this is a flat-rate estimate with no elevation model.
- Fuel price changes mid-trip aren't modelled — use a conservative price if you're budgeting ahead.

- Convert: km/L = 100 ÷ (L/100 km). A car rated 8 L/100 km is 12.5 km/L.
