Formula
unit price = price ÷ quantity; lower unit price wins
Divide each option's shelf price by its quantity (grams, ml, count) to get a normalised per-unit cost, then pick the smaller number.
Worked example
Option A is ₹0.398/g (₹199 for 500 g) while option B is ₹0.349/g (₹349 for 1 kg). The larger pack is about 12% cheaper per gram despite the higher shelf price.
Where this can give the wrong answer
- Quantities must use the same unit for both options — don't mix grams and kilograms without converting first.
- Bulk packs that spoil before you finish aren't automatically worse; this is pure unit economics.
- Loyalty points and cashback aren't in the price fields — adjust prices manually if they matter.
