Formula
bill = (kWh × rate per kWh) + fixed charge
Multiply monthly consumption in kilowatt-hours by your energy rate, then add any fixed monthly service or meter charge.
Worked example
250 kWh at ₹8/kWh is ₹2,000 in energy charges. With a ₹50 fixed fee, the estimated bill is ₹2,050 — a ballpark before tiered slabs and fuel adjustments on your actual tariff.
Where this can give the wrong answer
- Tiered tariffs (cheaper first 100 kWh, dearer above) aren't modelled — use a blended average rate or your bill's effective ₹/kWh.
- Time-of-use (peak/off-peak) pricing needs a weighted average rate, not a single number.
- Taxes, subsidies, and late fees are excluded from the fixed charge field.
FAQ
- kWh = (watts ÷ 1000) × hours run. A 1500 W heater for 2 hours is 3 kWh.
