US kitchen measures are fractions of the US fluid ounce, 29.57 mL: a tablespoon is half an ounce (14.79 mL), a teaspoon a third of a tablespoon (4.93 mL), a cup 8 ounces (236.6 mL), a pint 2 cups, a quart 4 cups and a gallon 16. Recipes written with metric cups — common in Australia, New Zealand and Canada — use a 250 mL cup, about 6% bigger. Everything here converts through millilitres, and the page lists your amount in every unit. These are volumes: a cup of flour and a cup of water weigh very different amounts.
