Formula
hourly = salary ÷ (hours/week × weeks/year); daily ≈ hourly × hours/week ÷ 5
Divide annual salary by total working hours in the year. Daily pay assumes a five-day work week using hours per week.
Worked example
₹6,00,000 per year over 1,920 working hours (40 h × 48 weeks) is about ₹312.50/hour. On a five-day week that's roughly ₹2,500 per day before tax.
Where this can give the wrong answer
- Weeks per year should exclude paid leave if salary is for working weeks only — 48–50 is typical, not 52.
- Overtime, bonuses, and RSUs aren't in the base salary field.
- Part-time hours (e.g. 20/week) work fine — hourly rate rises for the same annual salary.
