Formula

New salary = Current × (1 + Hike%); Monthly increase = (New − Current) ÷ 12

A percentage hike is applied to the current annual salary to get the revised CTC or gross. The annual difference divided by 12 shows how much more you take home each month before tax — useful for comparing offers and appraisal letters.

Worked example

A 15% hike on ₹12 lakh annual salary brings the new package to ₹13.8 lakh — an extra ₹1.8 lakh per year, or ₹15,000 more per month before tax and PF deductions. After tax, the in-hand bump will be smaller.

Where this can give the wrong answer

  • Hike on variable pay components may not flow to monthly in-hand equally — this applies the percentage to total annual salary as entered.
  • A 0% hike returns the same salary (useful for sanity-checking); hikes above 100% are accepted but rare outside startup equity events.
  • Switching jobs with a 30% hike but losing employer benefits (PF, insurance, food coupons) may net less than a 20% internal raise — compare total compensation, not just headline salary.

FAQ

Enter whichever figure your offer letter references — CTC or gross. The calculator applies the percentage to that number. For in-hand impact, run the result through the CTC-to-in-hand or income tax calculator.
