Formula
result = value × (from.toBase ÷ to.toBase) with pascal as base
Pressure converts through pascals (N/m²). One standard atmosphere is 101,325 Pa; one bar is 100,000 Pa; tyre gauges often read psi; blood pressure and weather maps use mmHg.
Worked example
101.325 kPa equals exactly 1 atmosphere — sea-level standard pressure, useful when a datasheet quotes kPa but your tyre pump label shows psi.
Where this can give the wrong answer
- Gauge vs absolute pressure isn't distinguished — 32 psi on a tyre gauge is above atmospheric, not total absolute pressure.
- mmHg assumes the conventional 133.322 Pa/mmHg factor; medical devices may calibrate slightly differently.
- Negative pressure (vacuum below reference) is accepted mathematically but rare in everyday unit pickers.
FAQ
- About 14.5038 psi per bar. Run 1 bar → psi here for the exact factor this calculator uses.
