Formula
Business days = count of weekdays from start through end, inclusive
Each calendar day from start to end is checked; Monday through Friday increment the counter, Saturday and Sunday are skipped. Public holidays are not excluded — only weekends.
Worked example
From Monday 24 August through Sunday 30 August 2026 spans 7 calendar days but only 5 business days — the week Mon–Fri, excluding the weekend pair.
Where this can give the wrong answer
- Both start and end dates count if they're weekdays — a Monday-to-Monday span of one week is 6 business days, not 5.
- If end is before start, dates swap and the absolute span is shown with a note.
- Regional public holidays (Independence Day, bank holidays) still count as business days here unless they fall on a weekend.
FAQ
- Many SLAs exclude holidays and may treat end dates as exclusive. This tool is inclusive Mon–Fri only — add manual holiday deductions or shift dates if your contract uses different rules.
